Picture of Welding Academy afternoon class

Pioneer Technology Center (PTC) recently held its Summer Welding Academy, where students learned the basics of welding. The academy was designed for students in grades 8 through 10 and offered hands-on experience with welding tools and techniques.

The afternoon class included Myrjhel Julyanne Escudero, Breleigh Welch, Mia Cusak, and Adison Bloxsom from Ponca City in the back row. The front row featured Nevaeh Ballew and Kloe Kriebel from Ponca City, and Bodie Swords from Tonkawa.

Students explored the basics of using an oxy-fuel cutting torch, plasma torch, and the GMAW/MIG welding process. These skills are important for anyone interested in a welding career.
