Pioneer Technology Center (PTC) student Carter Rogers placed first at the National BPA (Business Professionals of America) Leadership Conference in Anaheim, California last week. Four students competed from the Business Information Technology Education (BITE) program at nationals; Carter Rogers received first place in Java Programming, Chance Pritchard, from Blackwell, participated in Financial Math and Analysis, Amy Weber, also from Blackwell, was a finalist in Administrative Support Concepts and Eli Mendoza from Ponca City was a finalist in the Prepared Speech category.
Rogers, a junior from Woodland High School in Fairfax, took home the top award during the competition. “I’m super proud of Carter, we haven’t had a first place winner at nationals before, this is a huge honor,” said Zac Ladner Instructor for BITE Information Technology. “He worked hard and it paid off,” Ladner added. To qualify for BPA Nationals, students had to place first, second, or third at the state level.
