Pioneer Tech Recognizes PTAC Day with Special Workshop and Webinar

For 33 years, Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (PTACs) have helped expand the number of small businesses that successfully compete for and win federal, state, and local government contracts. The first of two local events will be held on September 19th.  Join Dawn Brakey, Pioneer Technology Center’s (PTC) Bid Assistance Coordinator along with Stephanie Farris, Small Business Administration (SBA) Business Opportunity Specialist, as they teach attendees about government Contracting. These ladies will focus on eligibility factors and benefits of participating in special programs the federal government uses to help small businesses compete for and win government contracts. On average the federal government spends $500 billion each year on products and services and 23% is set aside for small business. At this event, the ladies will discuss the advantages offered to veteran and/or women owned small businesses as well as provide information on programs such as the HUBZone certification and the 8(a) business development program.

The September 19th workshop is one of two local community outreach events planned to mark the first ever National PTAC Day which is September 26th. This day celebrates the success of the tens of thousands of small businesses who have benefitted from training and technical assistance delivered by their local Bid Assistance centers.

The second local event will be a live hosting of the National PTAC Day webinar on September 26th at 1:00 p.m. in Pioneer Tech’s Business and Industry Services room D101. This special webinar will feature a panel of PTAC procurement experts from across the country who will share their, Top Tips for Finding and Winning Government Contracts, the live webinar will provide valuable insights and information to both newcomers and veteran government contractors.

“We want to spotlight the impact that PTACs are having across the country,” says Dawn Brakey. “By helping businesses, PTACs stimulate the creation of new jobs and economic growth in our communities.” In 2017, PTACs nationwide served over 48,000 clients and helped them win over $20 billion in government contracts and subcontracts.  The more successful our nation’s small businesses are in the government marketplace, the stronger our regional and national economies grow.

The lunch time meeting will be on September 19th from 11:30 – 1:30pm.  A free meal will be provided thanks to Ponca City Development Authority. The National PTAC Day Webinar will be on September 26th and begins at 1:00 p.m.
